However, just because bugs are essential doesn’t mean you want them in your home. After all, a variety of bugs, such as flies and mosquitoes, are known to carry harmful diseases.

Fortunately, there are several things you can do to keep the bugs away from your home. But, before you start, it is a good idea to get your local pest control experts in. They will be able to assess your home, locate any existing issues, and even help you identify entry points for a variety of crawlers This means they can help you protect against bugs while ensuring you don’t have an existing issue. Fans

It may appear that many flying insects are excellent flyers but the truth is that they don’t generally do well in the wind. If you want to keep mosquitoes, flies, and other similar bugs out of your home, simply place a fan on near the window. Even on a low setting, the wind will be strong enough to keep the bugs away, they will fly where it is easier!

Sealing Up

One of the most important things you can do to prevent an array of bugs and even rodents from getting into your home is to seal up all the gaps. Simply walk around the inside and the outside of your home looking for gaps, no matter how small. Pay particular attention to the areas around windows and doors.

Any gaps you find can be sealed with sealant, cement, or any other material that you think is appropriate. It will keep the bugs out.

Remove Standing Water

Bugs are generally attracted to standing water and perhaps food waste. If you want to stop inviting bugs to your home you need to eliminate these. That means checking guttering, pipes, and any other source of standing water. The water is important for bugs to drink and some, such as mosquitoes, use it to lay eggs.

Remove the water and fewer insects will come to your home.

This also applies to food waste. Many insects will find the crumbs appealing. To prevent this make sure all foods are stored in containers and you wipe down all the sides. You should also sweep and vacuum the floor regularly.

Citronella

Citronella and other citrus-based aromas are very good at deterring a wide variety of insects from your home. You can put a little essential oil on a cloth and leave it near the entry points or you can burn essential oils. If you like then you can even put some plants around your home to help deter the crawlers from your home. Not only will you be deterring the bugs, but you’ll also be making your home look and smell nicer.
