How to make your own DIY rose water seems like an incredible difficult project to tackle. We all love roses, their pure colors, fresh alluring perfume and delicacy, the classical symbol of love and commitment. And as beautiful and elegant roses might be, they can serve as a wonderful ingredient in beauty products.
Today we are talking about rose water, a natural astringent which can be very gentle to your skin, helping with wrinkles, fine lines, inflammations and rosacea. It is enriched with hyaluronic acid. If you have encountered an acne problem rose water could be the solution for a mark free skin, whilst balancing the PH of your complexion. So lets get to the actual recipe.
- 2-3 quarts fresh rose petals( natural, without pesticides sprayed on them)
- dry ice
Choose a big canning pot and put a brick in its center. Select a bowl and place it on top of the brick, then fill half of the bowl with rose petals.
Fill the canning pot with water so it covers the brick. Cover the pot with the lid placed upside down and turn on the gas.
When the water begins to boil, carefully add dry ice to the center of the lid using thick gloves for protection.
To keep things under control set a timer for 20 minutes. The water from the pot will boil, steam will condense on the upturned lid and gather in the bowl placed underneath. The amount of ingredients stated above should turn into 2-3 cups of concentrated rose water. Make sure you stop the procedure at 20 minutes in order for the rose water to not get too diluted. You can store the it in an amber glass bottle for several months up to one year.
