8 Cleaning Hacks You’ll Wish You Knew Sooner

Are you looking for easy cleaning hacks? We all have those cleaning ruts. You know what I’m talking about—we’re not going to go into detail here—where you need to clean, but you don’t want to, and then you just kind of talk yourself out of it by saying, “It’s not that dirty.” That’s a lie. It is. It’s dirty. A dirty home is not just a physical health hazard; it’s also a mood-killer. So the next time you start to convince yourself that you can live in a messy room for one more day, remember these eight cleaning hacks, and give your home the attention it deserves.

Cleaning Hacks You’ll Wish You Knew Sooner

Hack #1: Realize Who Cares if Your House is Messy.

Although your friends may rave about how clean your house is, do you care if your house sparkles when you are the only one enjoying it? It’s the inside that counts! If you have clutter-free couches and floors, you can sit on the couch with a blanket and book, eat your favorite comfort foods and still feel comfortable. Don’t worry about cleanliness if you feel most comfortable in a messy space. You will be much happier if you let go of defining your success by the cleanliness of your house.

Hack #2: Disguise your clutter.

We live in a visual world; our eyes are drawn to what’s out of place. If you have clutter in your home, try to disguise it with lighting. A bright lamp can distract attention from clutter and hide ugly things behind closed doors.

Hack #3: Clean Your Carpets With Shaving Foam

Shaving foam has two important and obvious features: it’s rich foam, and it’s cheap. This makes it perfect for removing stains from carpets and rugs in the house. Why use shaving foam? It’s cheap and very effective at lifting stains out of the carpet. If you have a stain on your carpet that you’re struggling to get rid of, spray some shaving foam onto the affected area and leave for a few minutes. You can also use a soft brush to work the foam into the carpet fibres. Then, take a brush to remove all the shaving foam from the carpet, making sure not to spread the stain around any more than it already is.

Hack #4:Use Mouthwash as an All-Purpose Cleaner

A simple, cheap and effective all-purpose cleaner is made by mixing equal parts mouthwash and water. This is great for most surfaces around your house, from the countertops to the floor. If you don’t have mouthwash, that’s okay! White vinegar, rubbing alcohol and water can also do the trick.

Hack #5: Use your vacuum as a sifter.

Roaches and fleas live in cracks and crevices and can easily find their way into your apartment by slipping through those tiny spaces between tiles or along baseboards. To combat this, vacuum these areas using the crevice tool to suck up any unwanted guests.

Hack #6: Use A Pillow Case Line To Store Scarves

Sure, you could stuff your scarves in a drawer, but having them fall out gets annoying every time you pull something out. A pillowcase is the perfect storage solution for lightweight items like scarves and belts.

Hack #7:Baking Soda Spray

If you’re looking to give your bathroom a quick refresh, look no further than baking soda. Just mix equal parts baking soda and water, and you’ve got a non-toxic, inexpensive, and easy cleaning spray that will work wonders for those hard-to-clean spots that accumulate with time. It’s also environmentally friendly and safe for kids, pets, and plants.

Hack #8: Hire A Professional Cleaner (Or Do It Yourself)

A cleaning company in Alexandria, VA  is more than just someone who can make your home spotless; they can help you declutter and organize the areas they are hired to clean. If you’ve been holding onto items in your space that you haven’t used in forever, a professional cleaner could prompt you to evaluate that item and figure out if you should dust it off and use it again or donate it.
